Pridefest 2006

Whew...the St. Louis Pridefest is finally over. Over 80,000 people came to the festival at Tower Grove park and the parade on Grand Avenue between Utah Avenue and the entrance into the park.

This was during the weekend of July 24th and 25th of 2006.

Yeah, I was the lady singing, cmon, cmon, show me your love and waving ILY all throughout the parade, and Reb was driving the truck...heh heh.

Enjoy the pictures!

Catch Up 22

Anyway - catching on some things. Reb and I did get our pix taken for the 2nd year in a row at Six Flags St. Louis. This one is from 2005. Already I can see some differences between both photos...which makes me feel WAY better!!!

Six Flags 2005
This is our 2006 photos - already my shirt is getting a little saggy and so are my pants. My arm and face looks a bit thinner too. My hair is longer, too. Reb looks the same - her usual happy self.

Six Flags 2006

Also, before the accident happened, I stopped at Master Plan to get my new earmold - now my hearing aid fits better...and the noises around here at work are driving me up the wall...urgh. Why me???

AAUUGGHH!!!

My poor Gift! My poor Gift!

I was at Dierberg's Florissant yesterday afternoon - I was backing out of a parking space when a woman backed into my right rear fender... gave me some UGLY paint scratches and some fiberglass gouges... my poor Gift!

1st photo - overall damage.

2nd photo & 3rd photo - behind tire on fender.

4th photo - above tire.

5th photo - on rear - fiberglass gouges.

I don't care if it's just cosmetic, it's still DAMAGE. Gift is only 5 months old, and I've taken such good care of her... now I gotta go through the hassle with the insurance company - I just hope it's MUCH EASIER this time around.

New Hearing Aid

*sigh* I went to Master Plan on July 6th as my old Oticon hearing aid had started to fade out... it is now 20 years old as of Sunday, June 11th. It was purchased in 1986, and is actually of two hearing aids patched together. The inside is the older part - the outside was chewed up by my dog, Jami. The inside of the other one was water-damaged after I got pushed into a lake.

Now I have a new Siemens digital hearing aid and I'm still getting used to it...there are times when I'm ready to throw it out the window because of strange sounds and so much noise that I can't block out yet.

In fact, the very first day I had it, I heard this clicking noise inside Gift...and I was going what in the heck was it? Then I realized it was the turn signal... *smh* I had never heard it before, and it's something I'd rather not hear again.

At least I can hear the music CDs better now - although I do wish I could block out the office noise now!!!!

GRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

*sigh*

I'll get used to it, I know. I just gotta have patience.

Last Weekend - Six Flags

Wow what a weekend - I picked Lisa D up after work Friday afternoon - was able to sneak out early. Hey, after all, I did ALL of my work before I left!!!

Then Saturday, June 10th...SIX FLAGS!!! We had a pretty good start - got breakfast at Burger King, arrived at Six Flags around 10:30 a.m.

Upon arrival, we headed for the Log Flume...heh heh. It was both Reb and Lisa's first time...yahoo! Got a picture, too. Here it is for your enjoyment.

Then on to The Haunted Swamp - we did pass Mr. Freeze by and was surprised it was closed. I scored about 25000 points, but poor Reb was not able to score anything because her laser gun wasn't working. Lisa was in front, and had about 1500 and 4000.

Onwards to Thunder River... we picked up TBoyz, TGurlz and their friend from New Mexico... we all got into the tub and had fun with all the water splashing around...ROFL!!!

Now dripping wet, we decided to head upwards to Tidal Wave...hey, we wanted to hit all the water rides before it was too late - we don't wanna freeze!!! We picked up Leon B, and he watched our stuff while we hit the boat...wowza!!! It's a long way down, and the wave we picked up... wow. Then on to the bridge and wait for the tidal wave to hit us...WOW!

Boy, were we really, really wet!

Then we rolled downhill, caught the alligator wrestling show and then rode the carousel. We found Darrell and Ashley, and then Adam and Anita... went to dinner with them at their truck, and joined Mike and two others. Talked and talked for a while, then decided to head back to Six Flags - however, a thunderstorm came along...all the rides closed down and everyone were headed out. I was able to get our pictures on our way out the first time, so I didn't have to worry about standing in the rain trying to get the pictures. Here's the picture of us three!

I got some fudge, too...finished re-melting it and cutting/wrapping it in pieces last night.

Then we went to Denny's - it's a tradition on Deaf Awareness Day - dinner at Denny's!!! I had one of the best taco salads I've ever had and will def order next time!!

Home late - there was an accident on I-44 and traffic was backed up. Got home safe and sound, and to bed.

Sunday, Reb's softball game was cancelled because of rain. So we took it a bit easy in the morning, chatted a bit and had a nice breakfast of waffles and sausage.

Then we took Lisa D home, and on to my parents' home. We talked for a while, and then on to Lone Star Steakhouse for dinner.

Food shopping at Dierberg's, we're now set for the next week.

Now it is Tuesday - I feel I still need a LONG vacation. Heh.

Last Weekend - Just Bummin' Around

Last weekend - we didn't do much. We stayed home most of the time and did some chores around the house, and then to a meeting Saturday. Back home - Reb mowed the lawn and I took it easy...it was the time of the month and I wasn't feeling too good. Dinner at Applebee's was good - had my favorite.

Sunday, Reb went to the games and I stayed home and puttered around the house, and got dinner ready.

What a boring life we lead, huh?

Memorial Day weekend

Back to work…for this poor soul…with so many time reports facing me, Im gonna be wondering why I even wanted a job in the first place!!

Anyway – Memorial Day weekend was…BUSY!!!

No, we didn’t go to KC for Worlds of Fun – our friend’s grandfather passed away, so we decided
not to go in respect of our friends. We will plan on a later date, and Silver Dollar City on Aug. 12th looks like a good possibility for all of us, plus another couple friends also.

We decided to stay home and work on the house – we went nutso with shopping for the house…heh heh. Now we gonna have to live very frugally for a while.

We got a new curtain rod and curtains for the living room – they’re solid cotton curtains, with tab tops… they will still allow light to shine through, but not so much heat and show so much through the window. I looked into the living room this morning, with the sun shining through the curtains, and it looked so peaceful and serene in there… made me want to stay home and lie on the sofa – just enjoy the light!!! BC loves it when the curtains are open, he's on the sofa back and sleeping in the sunlight floating thru the lace.

We also changed the curtains in the pink and blue rooms – I have trouble sleeping with so much light in the room, we decided that the curtains in the pink room would be better in the blue room, and also the original curtains made the pink room much darker – the pink isnt really a pink, its more of a mauve. Putting the sheer white curtains in there, really made a big difference. It looks so much cleaner and lighter in there now, and PW loves it…she slept there this morning!!!

The darker curtains in the blue room really helped a lot – I was able to sleep a bit longer and a little more soundly. It just happens to make the room look darker, though, but it can’t be helped.
We also got the shelf put up in the green room, and Jen got some of her treasures set up in there. We also obtained a display church pew that was made by her great-grandfather, and put it on top of the shelf and then sat a doll that was given to us by Pam and Brad (dear friends from Ohio) for Xmas on it and it looks PERFECT.

We also got a plain tan rug for the basement – it doesn’t change much from the color effect – it almost disappeared into the tile floor, but it did help make the room look a bit more whole, and we use the color on the walls, anyway.

We had lunch at Dave & Buster on Saturday, my first time there – it was a very interesting place…LOTS of games.

We also went food shopping Sunday – spent almost $90 each – we were WAY behind on food staples and we also needed lots of veggies and fruits. I’ll have to stop and get some peaches on my way home from the produce market.

Monday, we went to Reb’s parents’ home for lunch – it was her father’s birthday. We had a nice time, talking and enjoying the good food. The lemon pie was good, too!

Jen and I caught up on our DVD collection – we watched one movie per night… let’s see…NANNY MCPHEE, ZATHURA, and ZOOLANDER.

Good movies – Reb laughed a lot at ZOOLANDER.

Now we’re at work, grouse, grouse, grouse.
