Tired as Heck...
Boy - Im really tired. The weekend of July 13-16, 2006 was the AllDeaf Caucus at Crowne Plaza Hotel in St. Louis, MO. I was the coordinator for this event - and 12 people were in attendance. A bit of a disappointment, because over 40 people had said they would come. Oh well, that's par for the course.
Let's see...Friday, we went to Harrah's Casino, had a nice reception that night...then Saturday to the Arch, but the tram wasnt working...then to Union Station and messed around in the stores for a while :) and back to the hotel for the banquet. I really do owe these people something...they gave me a beautiful boquet of roses!!!
Last weekend was the MAAD softball tournament in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. As we were leaving St. Louis, we were stuck on the 370 bridge for about 30 minutes in 60 mph winds...found out as we went by in single file, that two construction trailers had overturned in the high winds. As we got near I-70, the storm struck in full fury. I'm talking about downpours, high winds and lighting all the way to Wentzville. We didnt even know how bad it was until Thursday, when we crossed over into Iowa with Karole and Kam. We learned from our parents that the storm door was damaged and electricity was off...urgh. Reb's parents took the damaged storm door off and cleaned up all the glass.
Picked up Sheila in Omaha, and on to Sioux Falls. The tournament went well, although the committee was so freakin' cheap on their program books, food and awards... *smh* St. Louis Bell Club came in 3rd place in the co-ed division, with Jack M. getting the Manager of the Tournament award and Craig B. getting an All-Star award. Kudos to Reb's team!!! Yeah, Reb played 2nd base on the team, and she did a grrrrreat job!
The St. Louis Roosters (GSLAD) came in 4th place, and were shut out from getting any trophies this time...what a SHOCKER. I think it's the first time in a LONG time that this has happened.
Back home Sunday - dropped Sheila off and then Karole and Kam back home and arrived home at around 1015 pm... and we figure that the electricity must have gone on just before we got there...what a relief!!
My parents did clean out the fridge that day as the food had spoiled and took it all home with them, as their trash pick up was on Monday and ours was on Friday - makes sense.
The house weathered the storm, though, and the cats are all fine...thank goodness for small favors!
