Thanksgiving is OVER

Now it's time to catch up on this blog -

Let's see, the last entry was November 20th. I know I had two days off on the 23rd and 24th for Thanksgiving, and so did Reb.

We went to my parents' home for Thanksgiving, and it's still pretty new to Reb. Ours is a sit down dinner and we have no turkey, no ham, no meat, period. At her family's home in AL, it's a buffet-style dinner and everyone sits where they want to sit.

**urp**

Delicious dinner, Mom.

Afterwards, we chatted a bit - and Mom gave us two early Xmas presents. We got matching bracelets - they are just plain STINKIN' CUTE!!!

Friday, we caught up on some household shopping, and to our surprise, it wasn't so bad at all. We were able to find all we needed, and we were able to check out pretty quickly at Target.

Came home, and started working in the basement. Got halfway through - still a bit more to go.
That night, William B and Lisa came over, then Chrys and Rob came over for a bit, too. Been a long time since we had company!

Saturday, we went to RTR DCC for the CTMH workshop and then to Chevy's to have dinner with Sheila before she went back to Omaha. Leon, Lisa, and William B were with us, too. Had a great time!

Sunday, we.. SPENT THE WHOLE DAY in the basement and we got it CLEAN!!!

Ohh boy. Was I sore that night!

Heh heh.

This weekend - is still up in the air, though. We are supposed to go to the Bell Club Xmas party, but I don't feel like going...that's how I feel.

Bubba

A dear friend of mine, Jen B, informed me late Friday night that they lost their family pet - so I've decided to honor a post in his memory.

We lost one of our family member. Our 10 1/2 year old rottweiler dog, Kahless aka Bubba. He passed away last night around 4:40 pm. He was more than just a dog to us - he was a big part of our family.

May you always rest in peace, Bubba. We will miss you greatly.

Rest In Peace

Thinking, Thunking, Thoonking...

I didn't post here right away after last weekend, because I wanted to do some thinking of what happened over the weekend...

Well... let's see...Friday, just home, sweet home...caught up with videotaped shows, took it basically easy. I finished the last of the paperstuff, too.

Saturday, we cleaned house - I finally went through two boxes of Archie comic digests that were given to me by a friend - he knew I collected them, along with Donald Duck and Uncle Scrooge. I took out the duplicates, put them in a bag along with two sets of queen size bed sheets. We cleaned the bathroom, kitchen and did a lot of vacuuming... lots of cat hair!!!! Poor Reb - she had to clean the filter out several times for the blue room...it was the worst. Well, the cats do really like the comfy carpet in there...

We did get a lot of work done though! We were pretty pooped out, so we went to Las Fuentes for dinner...Mexican, yummy!!! Then to the dollar store...the photo paper was back!! I went a bit hog wild in there, and bought at least 10 each of matte and glossy - will go back this Friday to do a bit more stocking up... and get some of the bigger paper, too.

Sunday, we finished the last of the videotapes, and then onward to pick up Lisa D for the RSD meeting... Larry and Tom H were there already. We chatted and waited for Stephen S., Tom Y, Chrys and Rob, Wayne, and a nice surprise - William W came too. Wow ~ 11 peeps!!!

However... the hammer came down. Tom H stood up at abt 2:30 p.m. - declared the St. Louis Rainbow Society of the Deaf closed and suspended (how in the heck can you close and suspend a club at the same time??) and he MIGHT re-open it next year...MAYBE. He cited non-cooperation among members as the major reason. He then sat down, and refused to look at us or even talk to us. We kept asking him why, and the reasons why he couldn't do that. Tom H then stood up, picked his briefcase up and walked out. On his way out, he gave me a hard look. Nothing new there - he's done this crap three times before. Silent Club, Deaf Center, Rock Hill Deaf Association, and now RSD.

We sat in stunned silence for a bit - then we started talking again. I think it took us maybe 15-20 mins to calm down.

We all decided to let Tom H have his way.

We would just form a new club - we had the election before naming it, and it came out as this:

President: William W
Vice President: Larry S
Secretary: Chrys
Treasurer: ME
Sargeant at Arms: Rob R and Reb

Then we decided on the new name - St. Louis Metro Rainbow of the Deaf.

I am working on the bylaws - accepting suggestions, comments and changes from the peeps. Ive already sent out the minutes in the new yahoogroup - StLMRD.

Then we went to Hometown Buffet to celebrate - and thats when I found out Tom H had asked William W to come to the meeting ... to protect him from us lesbians...oh please. William W already got a different side of the story by Tom H's actions.

Tom H needs to understand the difference in the members - only Chrys and Rob are the straight lesbian pair - both Lisa D and I are bisexual, and Reb is gay. He just refuses to change, and that is so sad. It makes him look irrational and immature.

Oh well.

That's life, huh?

Reb and I did get the cubes up Sunday morning - I got them set in the office area...and they are...FANTASTIC!!! I got ALMOST all of the shelves emptied from the bookcase they were from. I told Reb I'm gonna get two more, because I think we can fit 1 1/2 in the remaining space and put the other 1/2 on top to make it all fit. That way I can get all the scrapbooking supplies and Reb's mosiac/airbrushing stuff in there.

Ill be glad to get back to my ATCs too...the room has been such a MESS!

Time To Catch Up A Bit

Another weekend is looming up and I still havent jotted down what I did last weekend!

Last Friday I went to pick Lisa D up - took me almost two hours!! UGH UGH UGH...I hate that.

Saturday afternoon, Reb, Lisa D and I went to Debbie D's home for a CTMH demonstration - run by a guy, Phil...he was OK to me...some thought he was pretty good, but to me, he was just OK. I prefer Nora N over him..period.

Then that evening, we went to Kirkwood Community Center for the St. Louis Bell Club Halloween Party - first time we've had it in the West Gym for AGES!!! Food was okay, edible - not fancy - but good. Then...we had the raffles - and I won three times!!! First time, I got the Halloween/Harvest basket; 2nd time, I got the jack-o-lantern bowl; third time I gave my winning ticket to Leslie - I didn't need any more!!!!

Sunday - we lazed a bit, watched a bit of the parade on TV. Then we took Lisa D home and out to dinner at the Village Chinese Inn - finally, that buffet place is OPEN!!!

So, on the whole, it was pretty slow. Which is good in my book!!!
