God Speed, Barbaro...

Barbaro

2003-2007

A gallant champion, valiant in his long recovery from his breakdown in the 2006 Preakness Stakes, has been euthanized Monday morning, Janaury 29, 2007. He was not able to recover from complications that came up last week, and his owner and physican agreed it was better to have him put to sleep so he would not suffer any more.

A 2006 Kentucky Derby winner, he won the hearts of the population, with his bravery, his regal bearing, his will to live... and we do thank his caretakers, his owners, his attendants for all they've done for him.

We will always remember you, Barbaro, both in our hearts and memories.

Last Weekend

Last weekend was pretty good – I’m so excited for Cass – she had a great party for TAC Friday night! She’s gonna get so many freebies, she isn’t gonna know what hit her!! I also got another hostess party coming from that too!!!

Saturday, I had a Bell Club board meeting – while it dragged on for about three hours, it was pretty productive – we got some issues solved and had many great discussions on so many topics! Then Jen and Lisa D met me at DCC, and we went to South County Center for lunch and walked a bit – but since I had forgotten and taken my meds so late Friday, I was still achy in my knee and we didn’t get much done … so we went to For Keeps Sakes – got some stuff for me to work on Jen’s softball pictures…heh heh. Then we went to Krispy Kreme for milk and a donut, and then back to the DCC for the softball team meeting…it was fairly good – just some things needs to be resolved first.

Sunday – I felt a bit better but the cold isn’t doing me any good – oh well. We went to Jen B’s home for Stamp Night and got ten cards done, then we chatted and chatted…oops it was 6 pm!! We rushed off to Shop n Save and then back home, where I tried a new receipe…wasn’t too bad, can be improved on.

Then we watched the Iron Chef America and the Food Channel Challenge…great shows!

This morning – aches and coldness are botheirng me a bit, but I’ll survive.

Finally Got Blogging Again

Boy - it's been about a month since I last posted...urgh.

Let's see - if the last day to blog was Dec. 21st, then I gotta start from there.

Dec. 24th - Reb and I went to the Edward Jones Dome for the Rams/Redskins game - wowza, what a great game!!!!!!! We won, and wowza...energy levels were right through the roof!!!

We had a long wait to get on the Metrolink, though, and by then, my ankle (which was sore at that time) and knee were way, way overtired...and I was so glad to get back to the Hanley Road station where our cars were parked. We went to our own parents' homes for Christmas - Reb joined her parents at their church, and I went straight home - where my parents welcomed me with open arms and warm hearts...smiles.

We had a great dinner - vegetarian style, of course. Then went down to the business of opening presents - I had quite a few gift cards :) and scrapbooking stuff - goody!!! I also got great presents from the family, too - which are all displayed at home! Then to bed - I was just plain tired.

Christmas morning - bright and early. Stocking stuffers awaited - and I got candies, food, books, little trinkets...heh. Breakfast - scrambled eggbeaters, veggie sausage, and...pancakes!!!!!

Then I had a chance to chat with my parents for a while, and then took my leave to go home - missed my Reb and our cats!

Reb got home a bit later - and she brought dinner with her! YUMMY!!! Her mom is a good cook, no matter what she says!

that was our Xmas - now for NYE -

NYE - Jen had to work late from 12 noon to 6 pm *smh*... I had dinner waiting for her...with black-eyed beans! We finished a bottle of wine and watched the lighted ball drop at the stroke of midnight...then off to bed we went.

Now it's up to January 2007... trying to figure out what has happened so far...LOL!!!

January 5th? urgh... I guess it's gone. On January 6th, I had a CTMH party ...with my other fav demo - Nora N!!! It was great seeing her again, after so many months!!! We had a great time with her, and Jen B finally got to meet her!!! YAH!!!

Jan. 7th, I had a StLMRD meeting - our first one. It went well and we have 11 members already!!!

Then...disaster. I got sick on the 11th. Bad headache, queasy stomach. Should have heeded the warning...

On the 13th I was already going downhill a bit - didn't feel like doing very much... plus there were ice storm warnings coming every so often... and guess what? It never hit us at all. We only had a thin layer of ice, and it all melted away quickly.

Finally got sick for good on the 16th - had to leave work early and stayed home the next two days. Went back to work on the 19th - and was really tired when I got home. Had to postpone Cassie's TAC party to the 26th - lucky for me, it was free because Crystal couldnt have the PartyLite party til the 9th of Feb.

Then on the 20th - Reb, Ky and I went to Fulton, MO to the MADA apartments for the MoAD board/committee meeting. We got some done, and then we had to leave just before 3 pm - we had to drop Ky off and I needed to go to David's Bridal to pick up Michelle's and my dresses for Pam's wedding in July. My dress is a size 24....and guess what?? IT FITS!!!

Heh...

Sunday - I needed to go to two stores to get stuff I needed - and then to Schnucks to get some foodstuff for home.

I gotta keep thinking positive...I'm doing so good in losing weight, and I want to keep it up.

This is my goal picture - it's already posted on my fridge door.
