BBLLPPTTHH
I hate being sick... Jens and I figured out that I had a stomach virus - yeah, your dear blogger had a stomach virus. I did vomit two days in a row, and today was the first day I was able to keep att my medications in my stomach.Tomorrow I hope to be able to go back to work. I can't afford to fall back in my work or lose any more paid time off hours.
I do have one bit of good news, I did go to Weight Watchers today and I lost 8.6 pounds.
Angel has been spending a lot of time with me on the bed...I think she enjoys having a warm body to snuggle up to that isn't trying to "hump" her. LOL!!! Right now, she's on top of the cage quilt giving herself a bath. PeeWee is asleep on the pillows next to my head. I'm watching CSI: NY and finished reading BLAZE by Stephen King. I will be reading PROOF POSITIVE by Phillip Margolin next.
I still need to get busy on journaling in my diary and food journals - I still haven't gotten into the habit of things yet. I'll get there sooner or later...better be sooner, though.
I am so NOT looking forward to tomorrow's weather... we are expecting snow. By tomorrow night, it's supposed to go up to at least 5 inches. I sure do dislike winter - it's just too cold for me.
Angel is finally snoozing. PeeWee is still sleeping.
I haven't been able to go swimming lately - found out that the pool IS heated, but when temps drop below 40, it's hard to keep the water warm. Three problems - it's on two outside walls, has one large window on one side, and a slide on the other side. That makes it hard to keep the water warm - and it's supposed to go to 20 degrees tomorrow. Forget it, I ain't going swimming.
I still do plan to sign up for deep water aerobics next month - I think the registration begins next week. I'll have to check my pager calendar. I also plan to sign up for pilates to start stretching my muscles... see what happens. I had thought about yoga, but it would conflict with swimming.
Oh well.
It's rather nice having PeeWee quiet beside my head on the pillows. I can feel her purring breath and know she's content. Now she's washing her face with her paw.
It's been an eh week for me, huh? Three days sick and now on red river days. Ugh. More messes ahead for me. At least I was able to sleep away most of the cramps this morning. Sometimes I think menopause can't arrive soon enough for me.
Jens is home from work - yay!
I can't wait for Friday and payday to pay off the rest of the balance for my LX, so I can get it back online. Sheesh, what a mess. For some reason, T-Mobile had my account on EasyPay, and of course, the bank declined the charge. Duh - of course. That's why I don't go for EasyPay for ANYTHING. *smh*
Family Guy is on TV now and it's 10 pm. Time to sign off and relax with Jens before going to sleep.
G'nite.

Barbaro

Today is the one year anniversary of Barbaro's death - the Jacksons have finally announced where his final resting place will be at... Churchill Downs. Barbaro will be the only horse buried on the grounds of the famous racetrack, at Gate 1.
This is the announcement:
Roy and Gretchen Jackson have chosen Churchill Downs as the final resting place for 2006 Kentucky Derby Presented by Yum! Brands (G1) winner Barbaro.
The Dynaformer colt, who inspired the nation following a catastrophic injury in the Preakness Stakes (G1) and his subsequent battle against laminitis, was euthanized one year ago today.
The Jacksons spoke at a press conference at Churchill Downs on Tuesday morning. They said Barbaro's ashes will be interred outside of Gate 1 at Churchill Downs in an elevated space that currently is used as a garden.
"Gretchen and I are pleased to be collaborating with Churchill Downs within this wonderful project," Roy Jackson said. "In the year that has just preceded we have spent much time thinking about Barbaro's memorial and where it would be best placed.
"Churchill Downs became the most obvious site for us. It was here that he ran his best race. It was here where we spent our most memorable day as horse owners and breeders. It was here where his racing fans could visit daily, and it was here at Churchill Downs where he was cordially invited to rest."
The site will be open to the public and will include a larger-than-life-sized statue of the horse, which will be commissioned by the Jacksons and loaned to Churchill Downs.
In the coming weeks the historic Louisville track will install a bronze marker in the burial ground. The Jacksons are considering select artists for the project. Both the Jacksons and Churchill Downs anticipate the formal unveiling and dedication of the memorial sometime in 2009.
Barbaro will become the only horse buried on the grounds of Churchill Downs. The Kentucky Derby museum now holds the remains of four Derby winners—Sunny's Halo (1983), Carry Back ('61), Swaps ('55), and Broker's Tip ('33).

Deaf Cruise
I posted this comment on another blog, and am posting it here.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I went with Passages Deaf Travel on the Deaf Freedom Cruise, and I’m telling you, they were FANTASTIC!!! Who else would have over 100 interpreters, both voice and sign, and even several for deaf/blind travelers! The entertainers - way outta this world - if you didn’t go on that cruise, you missed out big time! Who would imagine John Maucere, Keith Wann, Bernard Bragg, CJ Jones, and Deafywood on the same venue? The ship kept rocking, and hands were flying all over the ship! Wherever I went, all I saw were smiling faces and friendly circles of happy cruisers. Everyone I talked to, told me that they were having a great time, and wanted to be on the next deaf cruise.
The crew of Royal Caribbean’s Freedom of the Seas, now that is one I wouldn’t mind traveling with - the crew bent way, way, over backwards to accommodate all of us - which I know couldn’t have been easy - think about making 3500 deaf cruisers happy! Royal Caribbean did a fantastic job, and many of the crewmembers have said they want to work on the next PDT-sponsored cruise.
As for Tabitha, she has had experience dealing with deaf people in the past, and you know what? Despite the stress she went through, she continued to show her enthusiasm and pleasure in traveling with us. Also, Mac took a very, very intensive course of American Sign Language less than a month to go before the DFC, and it really showed - he really used his ASL to good extent!! When they made a commitment to serve the deaf community through Passages Deaf Travel, it really showed - BIG TIME.
I cannot imagine traveling with any other travel agency, and I have become a loyal client of Passages Deaf Travel. Tab and Mac really knows what they are doing, and they do have deaf people on their staff - and everyone at PDT are committed to serving the deaf community, like I mentioned earlier.
Those who didn’t travel with PDT, missed out on a great opportunity.
I have already signed up with them to be a passenger on their next cruise!
Last Minute Watery Thoughts
I gotta get going soon ~ gotta wash my hair. Get all the 'pool' outta there.I been thinking ~ and mulling. Which I probably do too much of, anyway.
Lisa D has been a big help here ~ she has been getting our home clean. Jens and I have been far too busy, and of course, my depression has gotten in the way, too. It looks way better now, although there's still a bit more to go. I need to get something for the ceiling fans and cobwebs ~ we don't have anything for that job.
I've tried harder to watch what I eat, and how much. Still got a few problems here and there, but in all, it's starting to show results again. Water still continues to be an issue ~ I still don't drink enough.
We were supposed to go to a Quixtar IBO meeting in Indianpolis, IN last Saturday, however we didn't go because I thought I was coming down with the flu. It turned out to be extreme soreness and nausea from all the unaccoumsted exercise I've been doing. The water aerobics are doing me, my body, and my health a world of good, but oh boy, the burn sure hurts!
I need to catch up with my memberships ~ and get my license plate tags renewed. Everything else is done ~ just insurance renewal left to go.
I also need to catch up with my journals again ~ *sigh.* I keep forgetting.
One good thing, however. I've been unmounting my SU rubber stamps and transferring them to either vinyl cling or TAC creative cling and storing them in clear jewel CD cases. It's starting to show ~ I'm getting plenty of room on the shelves where I store the stamps. Yippee!
Quite a few of my good friends have been having health issues with themselves or their family members ~ it makes me worry. All I can do is send a card and prayers to them.
Time to get my bottom moving!

Splash Talks
Grr. Still stuck above 3something... but a good friend told me to keep it up ~ it might take up to 2 weeks to kick in. So I have to be patient and keep it up. However. I do really need to up my water intake. I know I'm still not drinking enough to make a difference yet.And like I said before, I need to keep a food journal and use the eTools on the Weight Watchers website to track my points. I already have a food journal, but I'm not doing well in keeping track of the portions.
Anyway, I'm excited, excited! Passages Deaf Travel has come out with the announcement of their next deaf cruise, Deaf Freedom Cruise 2 (DFC2) and i've already reserved a spot! We are aiming for a balcony stateroom this time, hopefully on deck 6.
I do have the information saved on my computers ~ if you would like the intel, just email me. You should NEVER miss out on a cruise ~ I believe everyone should take a cruise vacation once in their lifetimes ~ and I do recommend Passages Deaf Travel. Mac and Tab are the greatest, and they will go out of their way to help you. BIG TIME. They sure do have a good heart, and they love being around us deafies!
In fact, Mac admitted he took an intenstive ASL course two weeks before the cruise last year, and that's dedication!
You can check them out on their website, http://www.passagesdeaftravel.com/ ~ they havent updated the cruise information yet, but you can read about them and their agency.
Ugh ~ its after 8 am and my body is still sore. I have to get going ~ wash my hair and all that.
Yes, I did go to my water aerobics class last night!

9 Things I Hate About Everyone
A good friend of mine sent this to me - and I just LOVE it. Enjoy!~~
9 Things I Hate About Everyone
1. People who point at their wrist while asking for the time... I know where my watch is pal, where the hell is yours? Do I point at my crotch when I ask where the toilet is?
2 People who are willing to get off their ass to search the entire room for the T.V. remote because they refuse to walk to the T.V. and change the channel manually.
3 When people say "Oh you just want to have your cake and eat it too." Damn right! What good is cake if you can't eat it?
4 When people say "it's always the last place you look." Of course it is. Why the hell would you keep looking after you've found it? Do people do this? Who and where are they? Gonna Kick their asses!
5 When people say while watching a film "did you see that?" No, loser, I paid $12 to come to the cinema and stare at the damn floor.
6 People who ask "Can I ask you a question?"... Didn't really give me a choice there, did ya, sunshine?
7. When something is 'new and improved!' Which is it? If it's new, then there has never been anything before it If it's an improvement, then there must have been something before it, couldn't be new.
8 When people say "life is short." What the hell?? Life is the longest damn thing anyone ever does!! What can you do that's longer?
9 When you are waiting for the bus and someone asks "Has the bus come yet?" If the bus came, would I be standing here, dumbass?
Non-Scale Victory (NSV)
Omg... I just threw a piece of chocolate away!!!That is a BIG thing for me to do!!!
I plan to start posting more NSV here - to encourage myself.
Now, let me tell ya... that was HARD for me to do, cuz I crave chocolate 24/7 - I just cannot live without it. The instant I threw it away, I wanted to dive back into the wastebasket and grab it back, stuff it in my mouth. I had to tell myself, no, no, you did something good for yourself, don't ruin it!
Sheesh.
And no, I'm not sick!!! Just working on my willpower!
Ouch...ie.
Sheesh - my body muscles are still feeling a burn and a tad bit sore. Sure had a good class last night, although it was in shallow water and I had to maximize my motions to get the burn going.I just got Hungry Girl - www.hungrygirl.com - and it's really informative! Gives you a lot of information on food, ideas and tips. Even gives you Weight Watchers points for each product! I get the daily newsletter now.
Still thinking about Curves - I know I need to go back to Curves, and do exercises that won't hurt my knee - will have to talk to the manager and trainers there.
I'm grateful to Lisa D - she is staying with us for a week, and helping us get our house clean. It is very difficult for Jens and I to get the house clean as we are so busy with jobs and activities, and we sure do need help, especially with six cats.
I plan to talk to Lisa D later on -
THE MAN WHO KNOWS HIS MATH
He writes:I was riding to work yesterday when I observed a female driver, who cut right in front of a pickup truck, causing the driver to drive onto the shoulder to avoid hitting her. This evidently angered the driver enough that he hung his arm out is window and gave the woman the finger. "Man, that guy is stupid," I thought to myself.
I ALWAYS smile nicely and wave in a sheepish manner whenever a female does anything to me in traffic, and here's why:
I drive 48 miles each way every day to work.
That's 96 miles each day.
Of these, 16 miles each way is bumper-to-bumper.
Most of the bumper-to-bumper is on an 8 lane highway.
There are 7 cars every 40 feet for 32 miles
That works out to 982 cars every mile, or 31,424 cars.
Even though the rest of the 32 miles is not bumper-to-bumper, I figure I pass at least another 4000 cars.
That brings the number to something like 36,000 cars that I pass every day.
Statistically, females drive half of these.
That's 18,000 women drivers!
In any given group of females, 1 in 28 has PMS.
That's 642.
According to Cosmopolitan, 70% describe their love life as dissatisfying or unrewarding.
That's 449.
According to the National Institute of Health, 22% of all females have seriously considered suicide or homicide.
That's 98.
And 34% describe men as their biggest problem.
That's 33.
According to the National Rifle Association, 5% of all females carry weapons and this number is increasing.
That means that EVERY SINGLE DAY, I drive past at least one female that has a lousy love life, thinks men are her biggest problem, has seriously considered suicide or homicide, has PMS, and is armed.
Give her the finger?
I don't think so.
(My opinion: Sounds like a very wise man, indeed. ~Missy)

Glub Blub
Soon it will be time for me to get out and get ready ~ TGIF!I did go to the pool last night and had a great time ~ only to find out I was in the wrong class! Sheesh. I tried to change classes, but unfortunately, it was full. I have to wait for the next session to try again.
Meanwhile, I'll keep going ~ it was nice to get back in the pool!

Small Victories
Well, I admit that I do have setbacks ~ had problems last night staying on plan.Went to Weight Watchers yesterday, found out I had gained 2 pounds. I'm not sure if it was because of water gain or that time of the month (ugh). However, I won't let it stand in my way today.
Yesterday, I was able to stay on plan most of the day, and even avoided those chocolate covered goodies in the office kitchen! For those who knows me well, knows it was a small victory! I'm a true chocoholic ~ cannot be without chocolate!
I do have a chocolate biscotti with my break coffee Monday through Friday ~ it does seem to help. The teaspoon of mocha powder in my first cuppa helps, also. I'm also trying to bring more veggies, fruit and V-8 along with my yogurt for workdays ~ it seems to help more when I can graze during my workday.
It's the evenings that are my biggest problem ~ I'm usually so cold when I get home, I just want to curl up under warm blankets. I'm going to have to start my papercrafting over again, and also get on VP more often... urgh. I also have jewelry in need of repair, also. Gotta stay up ~ get moving again.
Ugh. Brrr. Hate cold weather!

Cold Water/Warm Water/Hot Water
Sheesh ~ I keep getting cold or warm water, when I really want HOT water in my bath! I wish we could have a HUGE water heater...heh heh.Anyway ~ Gift is in the "hospital." Her bottom shield fell off on I-170 Monday afternoon, so had to take her to the dealer and rent a car ~ a 2007-08 Chrysler Sebring. It would have been OK, but I can't afford the $30.00 per day rental, and it was driving me up the wall with the engine racing while waiting at traffic lights.
I was able to borrow my parents' old Toyota station wagon, though. While it's harder to heat up during cold days (and today it's 9 degrees at 7:11 am!), it runs really good, despite its age ~ it's 18 years old!
I just hope to get Gift back ASAP, though. I love driving her!
I have promised myself to be more pro-active in my weight loss journey...which means watching what I eat, being more constant about portion control, and writing down everything that I consume. I hope that my really good friends will read this and help me out.
It's funny ~ I was on VP with a really good friend (I know, I know - I just don't like being on VP all that too much) and we were talking about resolutions ~ she mentioned that hers was to clean one room a day and to get rid of the clutter. I think Jens and Lynda were surprised AND pleased that mine was to start putting myself first in my life. I haven't done that for all too long ~ it was almost always other peoples' needs before mine ~ and I think it's just way overdue.
It's not gonna be easy, though. My family, life partner and close friends will always be tops in my life, along with the good Lord and His Son. I just need to concentrate on myself, also.
Aaauuuggghhh! Where's the freakin' hot water???
Two long-time friends did agree with me on the subject of friends ~ one suggested that I should get rid of those 'fair weather' friends, and I'm afraid that I waffled on that. He also suggested that I have a sit-down with one of those people and tell her how I felt about her telling other people negative things about me. That, I also agree, I should do. I'm going to have to stop being so wishy~washy.
The other person, I've known for AGES ~ he agreed with me, and said he needed to make changes in his life, also. He understands where I'm coming from ~ and I know he does. He's had a bad year last year, and I do hope 2008 will be good to him, also.
Sheesh. Too cold, too cold! Me thinks it's time to get outta here. I have to go to the dealer today to pay for the rental before I go to work, and they open at 8 am.
Will talk later.
